Itinerary Details

Day 1: Arrival & Journey to Tarangire National Park

Welcome to Tanzania! Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, meet your private Sauti

Africa Safaris guide, and transfer directly south to Tarangire National Park. Check in to your

premium lodge, enjoy a fresh hot lunch, and head out for an afternoon game drive. Target local

birds like the Yellow-collared Lovebird and the Ashy Starling alongside large elephant herds.

Return to the lodge for a warm dinner and a restful night.

Day 2: Tarangire Birding & Return to Arusha

Fuel up with an early breakfast at the lodge before a morning game drive through changing

riverine and savannah habitats. Focus on capturing photographs of large hornbills, the

majestic Kori Bustard, and resident predators before enjoying a field picnic lunch. In theafternoon, take a smooth road transfer back north to Arusha, check in to your cozy boutique

villa, and gather for dinner.

Day 3: Journey to Same

After an early breakfast, check out and drive north of Arusha to explore the unique, arid short-

grass plains. Spend the morning searching for the critically endangered Beesley’s Lark, the

Short-tailed Lark, and the Somali Courser. Enjoy a packed lunch on the plains, then drive

southeast to Same. Arrive in the late afternoon, check in to your safari motel, and enjoy dinner

by the South Pare Mountains.

Day 4: Mkomazi National Park & Journey to West Usambara

Wake up early for breakfast, check out, and drive into the rugged landscapes of Mkomazi

National Park. Spend the morning tracking striking Vulturine Guineafowl while scanning the

bush for protected Black Rhinos and African Wild Dogs. Savor a fresh lunch, then take a scenic

mountain drive up into the West Usambara Highlands to check in to your historic country lodge

for a warm dinner.

Day 5: Birding the West Usambara Highlands

Fuel up with a fresh breakfast before setting out into the pristine montane canopy of the West

Usambara forest. Spend your morning and afternoon hiking scenic trails to track down prized

target endemics like the Usambara Weaver, the Usambara Akalat, and the elusive Long-

billed Tailorbird. Break for a delicious picnic lunch in the forest and return to your mountain

lodge in the late afternoon for dinner.

Day 6: Full Day Deep Forest Photography

Wake up at dawn for a morning forest walk to capture the golden hour light, tracking down the

spectacular Bar-tailed Trogon and looking for the rare Usambara Eagle Owl. Return to thelodge for a hot lunch, leaving the afternoon open to relax and explore the botanical grounds.

Take an evening stroll to a local viewpoint to photograph the sunset over the plains, followed

by a refined dinner at the lodge.

Day 7: Travel to Moshi & Final Overnight

Savor a final morning in the cool mountain highlands and enjoy breakfast around the lodge

gardens. Check out and take a scenic return drive winding down the mountains, traveling

toward the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro in Moshi. Upon arriving Enjoy a farewell lunch at

a local restaurant followed by a direct private transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for

your departure flight home. For guest whose flights depart late at night, they can opt for a day

room to rest before their transfer to the airport.
